📍Guarding the tongue is an act of worship

Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz رحمه الله said:

«We met the early generations (the Salaf), and they didn’t see worship in fasting or praying alone — but in holding back from speaking about others. So a person who prays at night and fasts by day, if he doesn’t guard his tongue, he will be bankrupt on the Day of Judgment.”
