📍The Meaning of: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)
🔘 Al-Fuḍayl ibn ‘Iyad رحمه الله said to a man:
— «How old are you?»
— He replied: «Sixty years.»
— Al-Fudayl said: «You’ve been walking towards your Lord for sixty years, and soon you will reach Him.»
— The man said: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
— Al-Fudayl said: «Do you understand its meaning?»
— «You are saying: ‘I am Allah’s servant, and to Him I shall return.’
Whoever knows he is a servant, and that he will return to His Lord, should also know that he will be stood before Him.
Whoever knows he will be stood before Him, should know that he will be questioned.
And whoever knows he will be questioned, should prepare an answer.»
— The man asked: «What is the way out?»
— Al-Fudayl replied: «It’s easy:
Do well in what remains, and you will be forgiven for what has passed.
But if you do wrong in what remains, you will be taken to account for what has passed and what is to come.»
